Therapeutic Approaches

Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT)

CBT is a talking therapy that focuses on how a person's thoughts, beliefs, and attitudes affect their feelings and actions, and teaches coping skills to deal with problems.

Exposure Therapy

Therapists create a safe environment to “expose” individuals to what they fear and avoid. The exposure to the feared objects, activities, or situations in a safe environment helps reduce fear and decrease avoidance. You will be well equipped with Relaxation Techniques and the important skills necessary to navigate this very slowly. Exposure therapy sounds intimidating, but it is actually a slow process where you are exposed very gradually.

Psychodynamic Therapy

The goals of psychodynamic therapy are client self-awareness and understanding of the influence of the past on present behavior.

How Anxiety Therapy Works

Anxiety Therapy consists of 50-minute, one-on-one sessions that help you work through your concerns. Here’s how it will work step-by-step:

  1. First, I provide a safe, accepting space so that you will feel comfortable sharing your struggles with me.

  2. Through hearing your story, I will start to get a picture of what your challenges are.

  3. We will start with helping you with immediate concerns like managing difficult emotions and challenging life situations.

  4. We will also work to discover your goals in therapy and life.

  5. Keeping your unique goals in mind, we’ll figure out what’s needed to help you reach them.

  6. Over the course of our sessions, you will start making progress towards the life you desire.

I will provide guidance based on my experience and share what the science tells us about what's going on for you; I play an active role.
